A Son of the Soil: Born into Hardship

I am Muhoozi Obed, and my life is a story of a "full circle." I was born and raised in the misty, terraced hills of Mparo, Rukiga District. While these mountains are beautiful, they carry a heavy burden of poverty. I know this because I lived it.

I never knew my father. I was raised by my mother, a brave woman who spent her days weaving local crafts just to keep us alive. When I was 12 years old, she passed away from a chronic illness. In a single day, I went from a child to a man. To survive, I did odd jobs—digging in village gardens and carrying heavy loads—just to find a single meal. I know what it feels like to be hungry, tired, and alone in these hills.

The Miracle: God saw my struggle. Through Mountain Children’s Ministry (MCM), I was sponsored by Stella Zaimi, the COO of the Illinois Back Pain Institute. Her kindness was the bridge that moved me from poverty to a profession. Because Stella believed in me, I graduated from Uganda Christian University (UCU) with a degree in Social Work.

A Journey of Sacrifice & Professional Service

Before founding this mission, I dedicated years to learning from the best organizations to ensure I could lead with integrity:

  • Compassion International (Intern): Mastering child advocacy.

  • KWID (Intern): Learning to empower mothers.

  • Go-Africa (Volunteer): Developing grassroots mobilization skills.

  • The Kabale Shepherd Center (Professional Social Worker): Managing strict financial accountability.

When I felt the call to return to Mparo, my wife, Praise, and I decided we could not wait for a donor. We began by sacrificing our own family budget, redirecting our household funds to buy food for orphans and materials for the community. It has been a journey of hard work, deep prayer, and total sacrifice. We are trusting in God’s provision, knowing that He who began this good work in us is faithful to complete it.

The Vision Born in a Shared Meal

It started in our living room. We would share family meals with the village children, eating from the same pot. Afterward, they would crowd around my personal laptop to watch movies—for many, it was their first time seeing the world beyond our mountains.

The most touching moment was always the morning I had to leave for town. Between 6:30 AM and 8:00 AM, I would find the children already waiting at my door. Without being asked, they would carry my luggage to the main road. As the vehicle pulled away, they would wave until I was out of sight.

"I realized they weren't just waving goodbye—they were waiting for someone to come back and change their future."

Join the 1.8B UGX Transformation

BCCCSC is my response to those children waiting by the road. We are raising 1.8B UGX to build a permanent Center of Excellence to solve the job crisis, bridge the skill gap, and protect vulnerable children.

Praise and I have laid the foundation with our own sacrifices, but we cannot build the wallsOur Storyalone. We seek partners and donors to join us. To ensure your gift is protected, we operate with a 9-member Management Committee and a 3-signatory financial policy. Every shilling is accounted for with the integrity that my faith and professional background demand.  "And my God will meet all your needs according to

the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus." — Philippians 4:19
